Christine the Pristine RA

Mr.Crabs Choking
In Each dorm complex, community assistants help ensure the overall quality of life for the residents they watch over and preserve the rules/regulations of residents' life. Christine has drawn upon her Art Studio major, and it shows through the many decorations plastered around the halls of the 2nd floor of Montour. These small additions to the corridors and entrance are small contributions that RAs like Christine have made to improve Montour.

The 2nd floor gives off the feeling of a hotel illuminated by brightly boxed lights seeming unnerving without the additions made by Christine. When walking up to the 2nd floor two foyers stand in front of you. One goes straight to the lounge area and another on the left has an abundance of posters for different clubs and bulletin boards that have images of SpongeBob characters. Posted with words that correlate with the character on how to adjust to campus life each one different than the rest giving life to the corridor on the second floor.

Christine the RA

"If Christine had to be described in one word, it would be caring." The things that she prioritizes are the resident's well-being and their enjoyment of campus life at Bloomsburg. When walking down the hallway of Montour if you happen to pass by Christine, she will always try to start a pleasant conversation because Christine thinks that talking to the residents is an effective way of "Meeting new people." The job itself may only pay for minimum wage but when asked if her job is worth it, she simply said,
"Yeah, the job is worth it with residents like you."

"Remember a few days ago when those people were playing putt-putt in my hall?" Dale exclaimed while laughing at Christine.

"Yeah I felt so bad telling them to get out of the hallway but what were they even thinking playing in there to begin with!?!" Christine responded with a giggle showing how she felt about the situation.

"I wanted to help people to adjust to campus life like my previous CA."  Christine said with a smile reminiscing on the past. During Christine's freshman year at Elwell Hall floor 4, she had a RA named Lauren Oberdaff who not only changed her view on campus life as a whole. Wanting to become like Lauren she then went through the process of becoming a RA by going through two different interviews on what kind of person she is and a background check complete with a B-4 only to be terrified of not receiving a call that tells her she is in until around April she got the call overexcited about the new job she has been working as a RA ever since. Working as a RA for 2 years has helped build her experience and passion for the job, showing in activities, building relationships with residents, and making campus life better for everyone around her.
